GAME REPORT

Classy Croatia Sink Israel, Seal Place

14. Luca Ivankovic (Croatia)
Luca Ivankovic top scored for Croatia with a gam-high 17 points

Croatia showed their class by wrapping up their EuroBasket Women 2015 2nd Qualification Round campaign with a crushing 83-56 victory in Israel to cement a place at the Final Round next year.

Finishing their Group F schedule without a loss to their name, Croatia grabbed their ticket with both hands as they sunk the hosts in spectacular fashion to put a serious dent in their opponents' hopes of following them to Hungary and Romania next year.

Initially racing into a 26-18 advantage after the first quarter, Croatia were well on top and looking assured, but Israel hit back and Liron Cohen even handed them the lead at 38-37 shortly before the break.

But the wheels came crashing off in alarming fashion at both ends of the court for Israel when they stepped out for the second half.

It was one-way traffic and especially in a disastrous last quarter which could come back to haunt Adan Inbar and his players.

As Croatia turned the screw by getting themselves a handy 63-52 lead heading into the final ten minutes of action, Israel went into complete meltdown.

Just when they needed to stay alive in the game, their offence went into hiding and they only managed an eye-watering four points in the last period.

Luca Ivankovic fired 17 points and missed just one shot in the contest, while Mirna Mazic was one rebound short of a double-double.

Naama Shafir collected 14 points and six steals for Israel.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes: Israel vs. Croatia

Adan Inbar, Israel Head Coach
"We are very disappointed from the result and from the way we played, especially in the fourth quarter. Everybody gave their best effort but nothing worked for us today."

Liron Cohen, Israel
"We didn't play our game today. Sometimes when you want it too much, things tend to go wrong. Congrats to Croatia who advanced to the EuroBasket Women."

Braslav Turic, Croatia Head Coach
"In the first game we had trouble with their pick and roll, today we played better defensively in the second half and didn't make the same mistake again."

Ana Lelas, Croatia
"I think we started really well in the first quarter. We changed our defence in the second half and stopped them and I think that's the result. I don't know if they gave up at the end, but I don't think they played as hard at the end."
