GAME REPORT

Great Britain Ink Second Group B Double

Lauren Thomas-Johnson (Great Britain)
Lauren Thomas-Johnson was one of three British players to finish with 15 points

After completing a double against Belgium in Group B of the EuroBasket Women 2015 2nd Qualification Round, Great Britain racked up another courtesy of a 71-60 win against F.Y.R. of Macedonia.

Head coach Peter Buckle watched his team shrugged off a sluggish start to secure a fourth victory in five games as the Brits kept their Final Round hopes alive heading into their final outing on Wednesday.

Ending a run of three successive road games, Great Britain were back at the University of Worcester Arena, although it was the away team who illuminated the early part of the contest.

The dangerous Krisi Givens caught fire early and that helped F.Y.R. of Macedonia into a 16-14 lead, but parity was restored by the end of the first quarter.

Great Britain managed to find some more effective offensive rhythm ahead of the break and finishing the half with an 11-5 run, they jumped into the box-seat.

Unlike most of their games to date, F.Y.R. of Macedonia didn't have their usual frustrating lapse which has cost them dearly in previous games and that helped them remain in contention.

But despite the exceptional Givens accumulating 30 points, nine rebounds and five assists in addition to 16 points from Andzelika Mitasinovik, Great Britain were able to fend off a late surge and keep F.Y.R. of Macedonia at bay - and still winless.

Dominique Allen had an eye-catching 15 points and 11 rebounds for the hosts.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes: Great Britain vs. F.Y.R. of Macedonia

Peter Buckle, Great Britain Head Coach
"Credit to F.Y.R. of Macedonia - they were very organised, they played hard and played a really good game and certainly challenged our bigs. Krisi [Givens] and the other players did a good job for F.Y.R. Macedonia."

Dominique Allen, Great Britain
"We started the game without any energy and it was clear that F.Y.R. of Macedonia really wanted to play hard in order to try and get their first win. [Krisi] Givens was playing really well and it is difficult to contain her, but we did enough in the end to win the game."

Goran Jovanovic, F.Y.R. of Macedonia Head Coach
"We are happy - especially me - because for us this is the first game we have played really well for the whole game. Even though we have big, big problems with players' injuries, after the way they beat us at home, today we played very well and that makes me very happy."

Krisi Givens, F.Y.R. of Macedonia
"To see those girls at 19 to come out here and still play as hard as they did after [Great Britain] beat us by almost 40 points at home is good. We came away with a lot more than we thought we would."
