|Veteran Merike Anderson scored a shared team-high 12 points for Estonia|
There was unbridled joy in Tallinn as Group C of the EuroBasket Women 2015 2nd Qualification Round suddenly became crowded after Estonia took a confidence-boosting 67-60 home win against Portugal.
The triumph for the hosts means that all teams in the group now have a win to their name as Portugal experienced the other side of the coin by being squeezed out in a tight finish.
Having stunned Italy in their previous game in a dramatic conclusion, Portugal were bitten hard by a poor finish to the encounter, with the hosts impressively completing the job.
Down 60-59 with a little more than two minutes of action outstanding, Estonia grabbed their opportunity with both hands.
They shut down Portugal defensively, holding them scoreless for the remainder of the game and dropped eight points at the other end of the court to cement a memorable win.
Success had certainly looked questionable when Sofia Da Silva looked to have put Portugal in the perfect position to strike for consecutive narrow victories, but Laina Mesila-Kaarmann had other ideas.
She made two decisive scores in crunch time and with a basket by the experienced Merike Anderson and free throws by Viive-Kai Rebane in between those key baskets, Estonia prevailed in a game which had seen nothing but constant lead changes throughout.
Oksana Miil also stood out for Estonia with 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Ines Faustino had 16 points in defeat.
