GAME REPORT

Lithuania Unleash Their Firepower Again

12. Gintare Petronyte (Lithuania)
Gintare Petronyte had 19 points for Lithuania

Another spectacular offensive deluge from Lithuania protected their flawless status in Group B of the EuroBasket Women 2015 2nd Qualification Round after they rolled to an eye-popping 101 -59 win in F.Y.R. of Macedonia.

Once again the group leaders wasted little time in stamping their class and authority all over the contest after a stunning first ten minutes.

Their free-flowing game was once again in evidence as they found another offensive turbo boost from the tip-off to race into a 31-16 advantage.

It was perhaps not surprising that the visitors eventually finished with no fewer than five players in double-figures as they continued to dominate.

They also cranked up the defence in the second quarter too, limiting the hosts to just 10 points and that put them out of sight at 53-26 by the break.

While F.Y.R. of Macedonia improved in the second half, Lithuania re-asserted their dominance in the last quarter by adding another 24 points to their final tally.

Lina Aglinskaite had a game to remember after producing a perfect shooting night with seven of seven from the floor en-route to 17 points.

Krisi Givens had a monstrous 29 points, seven steals, six rebounds and six assists for the home team.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes: F.Y.R. of Macedonia vs. Lithuania

Mantas Sernius, Lithuania, Head Coach
"After the first game against F.Y.R. of Macedonia, we knew that it's a young team that plays with lots of emotions and with big heart. It's usually hard to play against a team like that when it is well motivated, and when it plays at home. Thats why we set our goals clearly, and we just used our experience to make the difference on the court. I am satisfied with the way we played, and with the way we controlled the match. Our main goal is to improve our form from one match to another, and we have to keep our focus all the time to get the results we wanted from the start of this Group phase."

Marina Solopova, Lithuania
"We won and that is the most important thing. We are setting goals before every match, and I'm happy that we are accomplishing them now. We still have two more matches in the group, and we can't relax. We have to play our best until the end and improve our performance from one match to another. Even if we secure the first place in the group earlier, we must stay focused on our progress, and play every match like its the most important one."

Goran Jovanovic, Macedonia, Head Coach
"Besides the result, I can say that I am satisfied with the way we played, and with the approach of our players to the match. We knew what opponent we would be facing today, but we were fighting all the time, we played brave and with heart. We again had bad minutes when we received plenty of unanswered points. We will keep our focus on improving, and on lowering the number of those bad minutes in the matches. We must keep on fighting, we have two more matches, and I hope we can play better in every one of them."

Iva Krstevska, Macedonia
"We started the match pretty badly. I know we could have played better, but I also think that the experience won the match. Lithuania is a great team and deserved the win, but these matches are very important for us, and for our progress as players. I hope we can play better in the next two matches, and I hope for a win until the end of the qualifiers."
