|An explosive opening 15 minutes from Agnieszka Skobel set the foundations for a commanding Polish victory|
Poland have reassured any doubters with a morale-boosting 79-60 victory over Belgium in their opening game of the EuroBasket Women 2015 1st Qualification Round.
Following the loss of some key personal, some doubts surrounded Poland going into the weekend.
However, after taking the lead for good in the sixth minute, the Poles never looked like losing Friday night's encounter.
24-year-old Agnieszka Skobel was making an early case to be named MVP of Group C, picking up 24 points from the backcourt on an 8-for-10 shooting display.
16 of those 24 points came on an 18-4 scoring streak that took Poland from four points in arrears to 10 in front (22-12) early in the second frame.
With the hard work done, Skobel's teammates shared the scoring responsibilities with 10 other players getting on the score sheet but none would join her in double figures.
For Belgium Sofie Hendrickx topped the bunch with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Poland will be hoping for a similar result when they take on Finland on Saturday whilst Belgium have a day to recuperate.
